{"id":393,"date":"2012-10-18T21:01:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-18T19:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.faithirabor.com\/?p=393"},"modified":"2015-12-13T23:14:14","modified_gmt":"2015-12-13T22:14:14","slug":"bill-clintons-daughter-chelsea-meets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.faithirabor.com\/?p=393","title":{"rendered":"Bill Clinton\u2019s Daughter, Chelsea Meets With President Goodluck Jonathan At Aso Rock Villa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Daughterof formerUSPresidentBill Clintonyesterday met with<br \/>\nNigerian President GoodluckJonathanat the Aso Rock Villa as part of a<br \/>\ntrip organized by her father\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\n<p>While at the presidential villa,Chelsea Clintondiscussed her<br \/>\nmission in Nigeria with the president stating it as her father\u2019s<br \/>\nfoundation\u2019s effort to prevent deaths of 1 million mothers and children<br \/>\nwho die every year from preventable causes, including 100,000 deaths<br \/>\nfromdiarrhoea.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-olddaughterof PresidentBill Clintonand Secretary of<br \/>\nStateHillary Clintonjoined Nigerian officials, the prime minister of<br \/>\nNorway and other leaders on Tuesday in promoting expanded access to zinc<br \/>\n and oral rehydration solutions (ORS), a treatment that could prevent<br \/>\nmore than 90 per cent ofdiarrhoea-related deaths in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unconscionable that in the 21st century, children still die<br \/>\nofdiarrhoea,\u201d Clinton told Reuters in an interview over the phone from<br \/>\nAbuja, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>TheORSand zinc work in Nigeria is in coordination with the Clinton<br \/>\nHealth Access Initiative (CHAI), on whose boardChelsea Clintonserves.<br \/>\nShe had earlier taken a tour of Africa in July with her father, who<br \/>\nfounded William J. Clinton Foundation in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, fewer than 2% of children in Nigeria have access to the<br \/>\nWorld Health Organization-recommended treatment.
