Popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has given more revelation into her relationship with her estranged husband, Tunji Balogun aka Teebillz, saying she will always appreciate him for his contribution to her career. Tiwa, whose marriage to her husband recently fell apart due to irreconcilable differences, in an interview on E Entertainment said her relationship with Teebillz didn\u2019t start with love at first sight.<\/p>\n
The mother of one said, \u201cWhen I first met him, I felt he was very arrogant. He was very tall, dark, handsome and very confident. \u201cHe oozes that and he always expects that from me as well. So when I first met him, I didn\u2019t fall in love. It wasn\u2019t love at first sight. Although when he first met me, he said to me \u2018so it\u2019s either two things; I am either going to manage you or marry you. So I was just like \u2018What! You are so full of yourself; I would never date you, let alone marry you\u2019. So obviously, we decided he was going to manage me because I turned down the other option.\u201d \u201cI never saw myself getting romantically involved with him; however, on getting to discover another side of him, I fell for him.\u201d She said, \u201cWe worked so closely together and I discovered this soft emotional guy. One who gave up everything for my career.<\/p>\n
He had a great business in L.A but he moved to Nigeria because he really believed in me more than I believed in myself. \u201cSo gradually I just started seeing in him, this person. So it was inevitable. I tried to fight it. It can\u2019t happen and I couldn\u2019t help it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u2018Kele-Kele love\u2019 crooner further explained how they both had their \u2018fair share of marital ups and downs\u2019, even as she narrated how they had a little argument at their wedding reception. She said, \u201cEverybody who is married knows that there are ups and downs in marriages and we had our fair share. \u201cWe kind of fought on our wedding day; we just had this little tiff outside and we are like arguing and everyone is like \u2018welcome the beautiful bride and the groom and we are dancing in and he\u2019s just like grumbling and it\u2019s on camera. \u201cSo everyone watching are like \u2018Wait were you guys just arguing so it\u2019s real but there are cute moments and real moments.\u201d Despite their feud, the singer didn\u2019t dispute the fact that Teebillz, who was her former manager, helped give her image a face-lift and build the Tiwa Savage brand.<\/p>\n
She expressed how she felt she couldn\u2019t compete with the women in Los Angeles after she moved to the city of angels on the completion of her music course at the Berkley College of music. \u201cWhen Teebillz became my manager, he molded me into the Tiwa Savage brand we know today. She said, \u201cI needed to do something and I met my manager who is now my husband. He saw me and was like \u2018you could be really pretty if you put an effort into it\u2019 and I was like \u2018wait what do you mean\u2019 and he was like \u2018you need to lose a little weight, wax your legs; that might be attractive. \u201cSo he just literally put me through this whole program and told me that \u2018the music is great, the talent is there but 80% of it is branding.\u2019 \u201cSo if you want to do the tom-boy thing, you have to take it to the extreme if you want to be hot and sexy you have to take it to the extreme.<\/p>\n
